If there was ever such a thing as a nutrition rockstar, her name would be Stacy Kennedy. To the team here at AVA – and to lots of other people out there who know her work – she really is a kind of hero.
When we first came up with the concept for AVA, we knew we wanted to build a lifestyle solution – not another dieting tool. And that meant we needed someone who was not only one of the smartest nutritionists out there, but someone who understood people too, what motivates them … what they care about.
From the start, Stacy got us. After all, she’s an entrepreneur at heart. Not only had she built her own private nutrition practice, she’s been involved with multiple early-stage businesses and worked at some of the top hospitals in the nation, including the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She runs workshops and seminars, is an adjunct professor, makes regular appearances on television and radio and has been a long-time social media advocate for healthy, clean living. She has a passionate following and is even featured in the documentary series, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (if you haven’t seen it, it’s a must watch on Netflix).
Pretty impressive, right?
And let’s not forget, she and her husband (a behavior change expert) are raising two boys, ages 11 and 6, along with 3 puppies. As a family, they’re all about healthy eating – Stacy’s forever inventing new kid-friendly recipes that are packed with nutrition. They shop the local farmer's market every Saturday morning and spend time together hiking, biking and enjoying lots of time outdoors.
As our Chief Wellness Officer, Stacy has built an amazingly talented team of professional nutritionists who love what they do and make sure all of our customers are well cared for. Their sense of purpose and passion for healthy living infuses everything we do here at AVA.
While Stacy’s leadership does keep us from snacking on junk food here at the office, what we really love about her is that she very much lives in the real world. So, yeah, she lets us eat cake sometimes.
